Education

Deanna Paul schooled at University of Pennsylvania in 2008 with a Bachelor's degree in English. She went on to attend Fordham University, where she received a Juris Doctor in 2011.

In 2018, Deanna Paul received a Master's degree in journalism from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

Career

Law

In law, Deanna Paul began at the Queens County District Attorney’s Office. She was initially assigned to the Major Crimes Division’s Domestic Violence Bureau, followed by a Felony Trial Bureau.

As lead counsel responsible for all stages of litigation, trials, investigations, evidentiary hearings and grand jury presentations, Paul handled dozens of violent crimes, including assault, burglary and robbery.

Prior to joining The Washington Post in June 2018, Paul spent six years as a New York City prosecutor.
