David Zaruk is a Canadian professor of Communications, Marketing, EU Lobbying and PR at Odisee University College in Brussels, best known for running The Risk Monger blog.^{[1] [3][4][5]} Zaruk, who worked for European Union as risk and communication specialist, is known for his criticism of modern environmentalism, especially anti-GMO movement and, more recently, by claiming that so-called "docilian" approach towards public health and safety destroyed sensible risk management and led to disastrous response to COVID-19 emergency.

He used to teach at Saint-Louis University in Brussels until 2018 when he was fired. According to his claims, the reason were his pro- biotechnology views that ran afoul of his powerful colleagues. ^[2]
