David Shribman

David Shribman is the Executive Editor of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette since 2003. He is also the Executive Editor of and Vice-President of PG Publishing Co., Inc. He was the Washington Bureau chief of the Boston Globe for ten years during which he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Journalism in 1995 for his coverage of Washington and the American political scene. His column, "National Perspective," is syndicated to more than 50 papers nationally through Universal Press Service of Kansas City and he is a Contributing Editor of Fortune Magazine.

David Shribman was the national political correspondent for The Wall Street Journal, covered national politics for The New York Times, a featured writer and national staffs of The Washington Star, worked for the Washington Bureau and The Buffalo Evening News.

Background

In 2001, he was appointed Adjunct Lecturer in American studies at the University of Notre Dame. He has served on the Editorial board of the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine, on the Alumni Council and on the Board of Visitors of the Rockefeller Center for the Social Sciences, was an alumni interviewer and admissions District Enrollment Director.

He serves as Trustee at Dartmouth College. At Dartmouth, he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, was a member of the Kappa Kappa Kappa fraternity and was selected a James Reynolds Scholar for graduate study at Cambridge University, In England. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Dilemmas in American Politics, a series of scholarly books published by Westview Press.

He was awarded the 1995 Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Journalism. In 1997 he was the Virginius Dabney Distinguished Fellow at Virginia Commonwealth University, and in 1999 he was the Richman Distinguished Visiting Fellow at Brandeis University.

He has also served as journalist-in-residence at the University of Notre Dame and as Scholar-in-Residence in political science at Gettysburg College.

Mr. Shribman also edited, with Edward Connery Lathem, the book Miraculously Builded in Hearts: A Dartmouth Reader, published in 1999.

Mr. Shribman received an honorary degree from Salem State College in May 1996.
