David Herrera is a Senior Drill instructor serving the U.S. Marine Corps who went viral after a video surfaced of himself reuniting with Kash, his blind IED detection K9, after more than six years apart. [3]

After joining the Marine Corps in his early 20s, David went on to become 1st.
Combat
Engineer Battalion and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2010. He was deployed along with his partner, Kash N060, an IED detection dog. They trained together in Hartsville, South Carolina. [2]
He spent about 7 months everyday with Kash as they encountered numerous missions they would go on to take on.
They lived in a truck clearing bombs out of the road in one of the deadliest cities in the world.
Whenever Kash found an IED, he would lay down to indicate the rest of the team.
As David led more than 30 men in missions near hillsides, Kash saved the lives of David and his teammates.
