Early Life & Education

David Ben Kay graduated from the Inter-University Program for Chinese Language Study . He subsequently received his Master of Business Administration from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. After that, he received his J.D. from UCLA.


David Ben Kay has had a long career working in China, beginning with Dentons, an international law firm. Since then, he has helped establish more than 250 companies in that country. In the early 1990's, he set up Microsoft's China subsidiary, which led to him joining their team as general counsel in 2003.[1] [2]

While working in Microsoft, he led the company's work on intellectual property, anti-piracy, government relations, and corporate social responsibility.[2] He was known as a "Piracy Czar."[2]

In recent years, he has advised dozens of startup companies and early-phase tech companies; this includes TV-Two, a decentralized TV and video streaming ecosystem that connects your TV to the Ethereum blockchain. He also developed an expertise in legal issues involving blockchain technology.[2]

In 2016, he served as a member of Ethereum's governing board.[1]
