On October 16, 2016, Perry was arrested in connection to the death of Sunny Patel.

^[1]Patel, a 15 year old student, was working at his family's restaurant in Cleveland Heights, Ohio on October 14, 2016, when Perry walked in at about 8:00p.m.,

and shot him in the back of the head, fatally wounding him. Perry

Perry is being charged with Aggravated murder, two counts of felonious Assault, two counts of aggravated robbery and two counts of Kidnapping.

A dozen criminal cases were filed against Daveion Perry between 2007 and 2012 in Cuyahoga County Justice Court.

He was twice found guilty of theft charges as an 11-year-old.
