DaShawn Horne is an American Mail Handler in the State of Washington who was violently assaulted in a hate crime after spending the night with a young woman he met at a night club the night before. ^[1] The assault is the result of a Hate crime committed by Julian Taimauga, the brother of the woman he

spent the night with.

DaShawn Horne was born and raised in the State of Washington. His mother is LaDonna and his siblings are Danesha Mithell and Dominic Horne.

Horne is a graduate of Federal Way High School.

DaShawn Horne is a graduate of Eastern Washington University.

Horne is currently a Mail Handler for the US Postal Service.

On January 19, 2018, Horne had the night off from work which is a rare treat and he decided to travel to Seattle's Pioneer Square for he wanted to attend a nightclub there. Since he couldn't get into that nightclub, he decided to attend another. At the nightclub that he attended he met a woman in her early 20s, and the two connected very well. ^[1]

The woman invited him back to her place in Auburn at the 600 Block of 27th Street Southeast. The two had a one night stand, and the next morning, the woman ordered a Lyft driver for Horne. As the Lyft driver pulls up to the drive way, Julian Taimauga approached him while carrying an aluminum baseball bat and asked for whom the Lyft was for. The driver responded with Taimauga's sister's name. Taimauga then hid nearby the fence of the yard. The driver then saw Horner leave the house and approach the car as Taimauga appeared and the two had a confrontation.

Taimauga then swung his bat and hit Horne as if it was a home run.

The Driver then drove further away from the property and witnessed Taimauga hit Horne several more times with the bat.

Horne laid on the ground unconscious.

Surveillance from Taimauga's neighbor captures the moment of the attack.

Taimauga also took out his cell phone and recorded the injured Horne on the ground while yelling racist words.

Taimauga then went inside of the house and broke down the door to her sister's room and called her a whore.

Horne was taken to the intensive-care unit at Harborview Medical Center.

He has suffered traumatic brain injury.

^[1] He will be in the hospital for an entire month and another six of rehab.

Horne's brother has started a GoFundMe campaign that has raised more than $50k so far.
