Danielle C. Belton is an editor and writer based out of New York City. Belton is currently the Editor-in-Chief of The Root, the leading African American news sitefor news and commentary. She is also well known as the creator of The Black Snob blog and the co-creator of the comic, Passing.
Early Life & Education
Danielle Belton was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. Growing up, she enjoyed news programming, pop culture, black history and “snark." Belton graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a minor in English. She was involved in the Society of Professional Journalists, National Association of Black Journalists, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., National Association of Television Arts and Sciences - St. Louis Chapter. She was also the editor-at-large of the Alestle student paper.

In July 2017, She became the Root’s first-ever editor-in-chief and the youngest person to ever lead the organization.
