Dana Budisavljević

Dana Budisavljević (b. 1975) is a Croatian film director and producer, known mostly for her documentaries and as a co-founder of Zagrebdox film festival. In 2019 she won Big Golden Arena for Best Film for her feature film Dnevnik Diane Budisavljević, a biopic dedicated to her distant relative Diana Budisavljević.

Biography

Dana Budisavljević was born in Zagreb as a daughter of prominent architect Boško Budisavljević. She graduated at Zagreb University's Academy of Dramatic Art and later worked as editor, producer and director on television. She became a close associate of filmmaker Nenad Puhovski and worked at his film company Factum. Together they founded Zagrebdox in 2005.

In 2006 Dana and Olinka Vištica founded Hulahop film company.

In 2011 she directed autobiographic documentary Nije ti život pjesma Havaja in which she deals with her family as well as her coming out as lesbian. [2]

In 2009 she began to work on a feature film dedicated to her distant relative Diana Budisavljević.

Ten years later the film premiered at Pula Film Festival and won Golden Arena.
