Curtis G. Aikens is an American celebrity chef, television personality, and author.
Early Life & Education
Curtis Aikens is a native of Georgia. His attraction to produce began as a small boy, as he followed his grandfather (also named Curtis) through his garden. When he was in high school, he worked at the Conyers, Georgia A&P Market. He was originally supposed to work in the grocery department, but spent the majority of his time in produce instead.
Aikens attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Career
After his college days, Curtis Aikens vacationed in California.
He eventually relocated there and found work at an Alpha Beta grocery store in the San Francisco Bay Area. During this 7-year stint in California, he opened his first produce company, called Peaches.
Afterwards, Aikens moved to New York where he headed the produce departments at Dom’s Wholesale Market and Balducci's. Some of his clients clients included the United Nations Cafeteria, the Plaza Hotel, and the US Open tennis tournament.
In the Media
After gaining fame, Curtis Aikens began consulting and food styling on TV. He appeared on several commercials for Pizza Hut, Pillsbury, and McDonald's.
Curtis Aikens has now been on several Food Network shows, including Pick of the Day, From My Garden, Meals without Meat, and Food in a Flash. [1]
