Early Life
Corey entered the world the on Thursday 4th September, 1997 [11]born at Joondalup health campus Perth WA to Mother Christie Jade de Bie [10]and Father Steve McGowan [14]. Christie was a young single mother at the age of 17 years old therefore Corey was raised in his early days in the family home with Grandfather Rob de Bie. Mother Christie moved out of the family home with Corey at year 2000 staying in the Northern suburbs of Perth WA where Corey completed primary school and graduated from secondary studies year 12 at Wanneroo Senior High School year 2015.
Career
Corey commenced work at the age of 16 with his Uncle Shannon de Bie in the family business Pro Sound Productions Pty Ltd [6]where he worked in the audiovisual industry.
During this time Corey developed extensive experience [7]with various a/v and acoustic installations including the following major projects:
Acoustic Treatment - Regal Theatre Perth
Acoustic Treatment - Radio West Studios Bunbury inlcuding Hot FM, SCA
Acoustic Treatment - School of Rock Studios Perth
Acoustic Treatment - Superfreak Studios Joondalup
Corey also operated lighting and FOH engineering support for a number of popular Perth bands including, Slim Jim & the Phatts, Proof The Band, The Mod Squad, The Fit Swimmers, Blow the House Down, Blue Jean and Tribute acts Thomas Crane (Freddie Mercury), Wayne Stanley (Tom Jones), John Crane (Rod Stewart) and Jaye Yates (Cher).
In 2016 Corey decided to open up new opportunities for his future applying for the Royal Australian Navy, he was formally accepted and due to commence with the Navy in 2017.
Death
On February the 8th, 2017, Corey was visiting some old friends in Ellenbrook after drinking he decided to stay the night, it is alleged that another party has arrived to the group where Corey has purchased the drug N-Bomb shortly after Corey displayed erratic behaviour and went missing from the group.
Corey has passed away some time between 1:30am - 9:30am on 9 Feb, 2017.
[3]Corey de Bie's body was found near a park in Averley in the morning about seven hours after he became unwell and wandered off from the group alone.
It is alleged Corey had taken a synthetic hallucinogen NBOMe, also known as N-bomb or wizard prior to his death. [3]
Investigation
A drug raid was conducted where a young man has been charged on February 9, 2017, with a string of drug offenses that relate to supplying Corey with the prohibited substance that took his life. [3]
Police allege the unidentified 18-year-old sold the synthetic drug to Corey the day before his death and found a quantity of cannabis when they searched his home. [3]
An autopsy has been carried out with toxicology reports pending.
Until the results are confirmed the exact time of death and cause are only speculation.
