Connor Golden is a 18 year old student at University of Miami. Golden enrolled in the university in 2015 and studies Music Engineering.

Golden is a part of the Miami band The Granary. Golden lives in Miami, Florida and Fairfax, Virginia. His hometown is Silver Spring, Maryland.

Explosion

Connor Golden was climbing on rocks in Central Park when he stepped on a explosive that blew off his left foot and severely damaged his left leg. The explosion happened near the funeral of the Holocaust survivor and Nobel Peace Prize winner Elie Wiesel.

Connor Golden was climbing on rocks in Central Park near east 60th Street and Fifth Avenue with two of his friends Thomas Hinds, 20, and Matthew Stabile, 18 when he stepped on the explosive object at around 11 a.m.

The trio were friends from high school and were in New York, New York visiting from Fairfax, Virginia, for the Fourth of July holiday. The explosion happened just one day into their vacation, the trio decided went to Central Park to go slacklining — an outdoor activity where people tie a rope between two objects try to walk the rope.

Investigation

After the incident, the NYPD's bomb squad was called in after the explosion and confirmed that the explosion was not a self-inflicted fireworks accident ant that the explosive had been in the park for more than a day.

The NYPD originally thought that the explosion was caused by the friends playing with fireworks but found that the teens did not have any fireworks. The case is now being investigated by the FBI.

Thomas Hinds, Golden's friend said that NYPD officers grilled him for hours and were even implying that it was their fault, even though he repeatedly told them he did not have any fireworks.

Hinds said “It’s ridiculous.

They’ve been asking me questions for two hours,” he said.

“They want us to admit that we were playing with fireworks, but we really weren’t.

We didn’t have anything on us explosive at all.

But I know how it goes.

If it was just us f–king around with fireworks, it would be a lot easier for them.

But it’s not.

And that’s actually really scary.

Why would we do that?!”
