Colt Coggins (1999 - December 27, 2016) was a teenager hailing from McCalla, Alabama. Colt was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. Colt was a devout Christian and a member of the Baptist Fellowship Center.

Colt was shot in the head in Hueytown, Alabama on December 27, 2016 during an illegal gun transaction by Deion Dewayne Jones. He was taken to a home in McCalla, Alabama, where he died.

The shooting happened about 3:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Carver Avenue in Hueytown, Alabama. Colt and several other juveniles were in a car on the dead end street engaging in a illegal firearm transaction when gunfire erupted.

Colt was shot in the head.

His friends panicked, and drove him back to a home at 22683 Huggins Drive in McCalla, Alabama, right off of Tannehill Parkway. He was pronounced dead in the car at the Huggins Drive home.

Officers responded to the shooting on Carver Avenue, but arrived to find everyone had scattered, including the victims and the suspects.

They set up a perimeter and began searching for two suspects, both black males.

One of the suspects was taken into custody, and the other, Deion Dewayne Jones was the subject of a manhunt. Deion was taken into custody on December 28, 2016.
