Cleo’s parents, Sam Elliott and Katharine Ross are both 'Academy Award'-nominated actors. They first met on the set of the film 'The Legacy' and began dating soon after. They eventually got married in 1984.

Cleo was born on September 17, 1984, in Malibu, California.

Growing up, Cleo learned to play the flute and the guitar.

She also learned singing.

Cleo later attended the 'Joanne Baron/D.W.

Brown Acting Studio' in Santa Monica, California where she studied music for 4 years, from 2002 to 2006. Cleo has also received classical opera vocal training from singer-songwriter Charity Chapman. She began training under Chapman soon after her graduation from 'Colin McEwan High School.' Prior to that, she studied at 'Malibu High.' Under the tutelage of Chapman, Cleo majorly focused on Italian opera and the musical tradition of Bel canto. Despite being trained as a singer, Cleo began her professional journey as a model.[2]

Career

Cleo’s first modeling job was on a live hair-styling show titled ‘Sexyhair,’ which was aired in 2003.

She has also featured in many fashion magazines.

Cleo and her family were photographed in the July 29, 2013, edition of 'The Malibu Times.' The same year, Cleo also appeared on the red carpet during the creative arts 'Emmy Awards.'[3]

Apart from Charity Chapman, several other musicians have trained Cleo.

She eventually became a member of the ‘American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers.’ There, Chapman introduced her to ‘ASCAP’ member and music producer Bobby Harby. Cleo showed Bobby her first self-written song. Bobby liked her composition and eventually began working on it in the studio. Cleo finally released her debut solo CD, ‘No More Lies,’ in 2008.[4]

Controversy

Cleo is the only child of Sam and Katharine.

She shares an amicable relationship with her father.

Unfortunately, her relationship with her mother has been somewhat abusive and violent in the past.

Thus, she had to stay away from her mother for a certain period of time.

In March 2011, Cleo, out of rage, threatened her mother with a pair of scissors. She also made Katharine run around the house for her life. When Katharine tried calling the police for help, Cleo cut the telephone wires with scissors. She also threatened Katharine that she would poke her eyes out.

Katharine eventually managed to file the incident and was granted a protective order.

Cleo was ordered to stay away from her mother.

Katharine was so petrified by her daughter’s act that she had to be accompanied by a police officer to collect her belongings from her house.

She later revealed that Cleo had shown physical and verbal violence earlier, too, when she was in her teens.

However, none of the Elliott members has ever revealed anything more regarding the incident or spoken about the reason behind Cleo’s violent behavior.

Personal Life

Cleo is inspired by bands such as 'Guns N' Roses' and 'Pink Floyd.' Musicians such as Jimi Hendrix, Fiona Apple, and Sheryl Crow are her guiding force. Additionally, Cleo’s grandparents, Dudley Ross and Katharine W Hall, too, have supported her music career.

Cleo is rumored to be dating Randy Christopher Bates, a talented artist, and musician.
