Clayton James Geib (March 1, 1996 - September 17, 2017) was a resident of London, Ohio. He died prematurely after playing a college football game.
Life & Activities

Clayton Geib won the London Rotary Student of the Month award in March 2014.

Clayton Geib (summer 2016)
Clayton Geib was an offensive lineman for his high school and college football teams. While playing at London High School, he was third-team all-state, academic all-Ohio, first team all-district, and all-league selection. He was also the London Rotary Student of the Month in March 2014. Geib graduated second in his class with a 4.0 unweighted GPA.
During his college years of playing Division III Football at College of Wooster, [undefined] he was an all-conference offensive lineman and was named to the North Coast Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll during his sophomore and junior years, respectively. [undefined]
He was a chemistry major and was looking to complete a Ph.D.,
as well. [undefined]
In addition to playing football, Geib partook in several scholarly activities.
He was in the National Honor Society for three years, and he was active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for two years.
His favorite high school classes included AP Chemistry and AP Government.
His favorite teacher was Mr. Clines.
He stated:
Mr. Clines has a passion for his work as a teacher, and he is helping me to prepare for my future career in science by challenging me to solve difficult problems.
Mr. Clines commented that “Geib likes to know how things are linked together or why things happen, and as such, he takes learning to a higher level.”
In the summer of 2016, Clayton Geib partook in the University of North Dakota's "Interdisciplinary Renewable and Environmental Chemistry REU Program." Under his research mentors, he completed a research paper called, "Synthesis of Standards Necessary for Identification of Organic Compounds Produced during Lignin Degradation."
As an additional hobby, Geib played saxophone for London’s Jazz, Concert, and Pep Bands.
Death
Clayton Geib started Saturday's game against Ohio Wesleyan University at right guard. He died in a hospital after a game Saturday when he complained he didn't feel well. [undefined]
College of Wooster president Sarah R. Bolton released a statement following Geib's death:
Clayton was a wonderful student and member of the College of Wooster community, and beloved by many. Our hearts are breaking, and all our prayers and thoughts are with Clayton's family, teammates, and friends. [5]
Personal Life
Clayton Geib was survived by his two siblings (Richard and Elanor) and his father Marshall Geib.
His mother, Martha Geib, died in 2015.
She was an athlete, as well.
She played collegiate volleyball at Muskingum College and was inducted into the London High School Athletic Hall Of Fame. [undefined]
