Created by HardFork Inc.'s originator and engineer, Peter Jihoon Kim, in 2017,

Cipher Browser is intended to bring the power of the Ethereum blockchain and decentralized applications to as many people as possible. [3] [4]


Cipher allows users to interact with Web 3.0 decentralized applications (DApps) powered by Ethereum on your iOS device and makes it easy for you to securely store, send and receive Ether and ERC20 Token Standard ​ tokens. [5]

On April, 2018, Cipher Browser was acquired by Coinbase ​, which also operates a browser of their own called Toshi ​. Coinbase will be combining the Toshi and Cipher Browser teams, which is just the sole creator, Peter Kim. Kim will also become the hear of engineering at Toshi, and will work together with Sid Coelho-Prabhu, Coinbase’s product lead for Toshi. [8]
