Christmas Abbott was born on December 20, 1981 at Lynchburg, Virginia, USA.
She currently lives in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she owns her own gym Crossfit Invoke. Her father, Ed Abbott, was an avid biker and gave Christmas her love for tattoos. She admits that it came natural to her after spending much time around burly, tattooed biker boys during her childhood.
Career
Christmas Abbott is a fitness enthusiast, author and athlete extraordinaire.
This girl from Virginia has come a long way to establish herself as this inspiration to hundreds of women across the globe and spreading fitness enthusiasm to men and women alike.
From being a nationally ranked Weightlifter to authoring fitness books, right now it seems that there’s no stopping Christmas.
Her resilience, endurance and perseverance added up with her rebellious streak to turn out one impossible feat after another.
It’s like the message she herself wants to convey to women in general; it is never too late to start taking care of your body and there really isn’t any limit to what you can achieve if you really put your mind into it.
As a teenager, Christmas developed this rebellious streak where she started defying expectations that society had of her.
She would often sneak away from home and get into parties in search of a good time.
More often than not she would get into trouble for that.
After enduring a life-threatening accident at 13, Christmas really went all the way into leading a disastrous life of incessant drinking, smoking and even doing heavy drugs.
At 18, after barely graduating High School, Christmas tried to enroll into the Army but got rejected.
She confessed later that she was in really bad shape and could barely run a mile without collapsing.
She joined the US base at Iraq as an independent civilian laundry attendant at 22 and this is when her life changed forever. It is at the army base that she realized the value of human life and how she was wasting away her own.
She was introduced to fitness training by one of her fellow soldiers and did not look back since.
She quit smoking and started following a strict and disciplined fitness regime.
She came across the Crossfit regime when a fellow soldier showed her a video of women taking on intensive challenges. Competitive by nature, Christmas was instantly drawn to it and she started achieving one milestone after the other until she destroyed every milestone in the renowned CrossFit Challenge.
She came back to the US after four years in Iraq and started her own CrossFit coaching class in Raleigh.
In 2010, she opened her own gym, CrossFit Evoke and focused on developing her own brand.
Her success in CrossFit led her to take up competitive Weightlifting and within a short period of time she has secured national ranking and is eyeing competing at the next Olympic Games.
She also paved way for more girl-power when she was invited to become the first female Pit Crew member in the famed NASCAR in 2013. That was a monumental feat considering the profession till then was entirely male-dominated and testosterone-ruled. Since then she has continued doing what she loves best, working out, getting tattoos, breaking the glass ceiling of female stereotypes.
She has graced the front covers of many famous publications like Sports Illustrated and Harpercollins flaunting her chiseled body and ‘Badass’ persona. She has penned down all her tips and tricks on getting into shape and achieving that desirable body in her first book titled ‘The Badass Body Diet: The Breakthrough Diet and Workout for a Tight Booty, Sexy Abs, and Lean Legs’ in May, 2015.
