Christine Sydelko (born March 27, 1994) is a YouTube Star; she is known for the duo YouTube channel Elijah and Christine, with fellow YouTuber, Elijah Daniel. She also has her own personal channel where she uploads vlogs.[3]

Her channel has over 1.3 million subscribers due to its great content.

Christine was born as Christine Lauren Sydelko on March 27, 1994 in Chicago, Illinois. Her father’s name is not known but her mother’s name is Pam Sydelko, her mother was a scientist for a very long time but now has her own consulting firm. Her mother is also a photographer and writes poetry. [3]

She has two siblings, two older brothers whose names are not known.

She grew up with them in Chicago, Illinois.

There is no information about her background but she is a high school graduate, she graduated from a high school located in Illinois.

She went on to attend DePaul University to pursue a degree in Digital Media and Cinema but unfortunately, in 2015, she dropped out to pursue a career in comedy. [3]

She moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue her new career in comedy. She is currently single. She has also revealed that she is asexual.

She began her online career in 2014 on the Vine application, she was known for posting comedy videos, which attracted many views. She created a short video titled ‘Bible Studies’ and it went viral and she gained lots of popularity. [3]

Her first username on the platform was ‘PotatoWithAnE’, but when her account was hacked, she changed it to ‘NotChristineSydelko’.

In August 2015, she changed it again to ‘Csydelko’.

She has worked with fellow Vine stars Tom Harlock and Erin Gilfoy. [2]

She gained over 500 thousand followers before the app became inactive.

She then launched her personal YouTube channel, ‘Christine Sydelko’ on July 9, 2015, her videos are mainly on comedy and vlogs. In 2018, the channel has gained over 1.3 million subscribers and over 100 million views.

She also features in a channel, ‘Elijah & Christine’, which she co-owns with fellow YouTuber, Elijah Daniel. In 2016, they uploaded a video where they announced that they got engaged and would get married in 2017. Later on, they revealed to their viewers that it was a joke as Elijah is gay and Christine is asexual.[2]

In January 2017, they released a video which was a parody of the song ‘Closer’ by The Chainsmokers, the video went viral. They also did a parody of ‘The Maury Show,’ in the video, they featured fellow YouTuber Tana Mongeau, the video also went viral. [3]

She has also been a star in Julien Solomita's short film ‘Eat, Clay, Love’ along with Elijah Daniel. They won the Shorty Awards in 2017 for the Best Comedian. They also started a merchandise line called ‘the@pack’. [2]

Sadly, in January 2018, they have split up and no longer work together, she accused Elijah of “acting like a martyr” and of failing to fulfill his responsibilities in a case of undelivered merchandise.

She made an appearance in Katy Perry's music video for the song ‘Swish Swish’. She later revealed to her fans that she had no idea that her weight was going to be made into a joke in the music video.[3]

She has revealed that she is abused daily on social media for being overweight and that it almost ruined her life.

She stated that online bullying has become a common occurrence as people can easily hide behind an anonymous profile and write anything they wish.

This bad attitude is even leading teenagers to commit suicides by teenagers.

She said on her Twitter account that she was also affected and wanted to hide from the whole world. But she eventually realized that hiding was not the right thing to do. She has now started an online battle to protect others from the negative effects of social media bullying. [3]

Controversy

She was in a controversy where she stated in one of her Vines that “men can't be discriminated against” and that racism does not apply to white people.

She was highly criticized by many people for her statements.
