Christine Loeber

Christine Loeber was a social worker based in Yountville, California.

Education

Loeber received a master’s degree from Boston College.

Career

She was the executive director of the Pathway Home, an organization that counseled veterans at Veterans Home of California Yountville.

Loeber is remembered as dedicating her life to helping veterans suffering from Post traumatic stress disorder.

Loeber worked at VA clinics in San Francisco and Menlo Park when she was hired by Pathway, including a location made famous in the book “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.”

Death

On Friday March 9, 2018, Loeber was identified as one of three hostages who were killed by an Army veteran in Yountville.

Several people were released before the gunman and three hostages were confined to a single room, after which a standoff ensued. Hostage negotiators were brought in but nothing was heard from either the gunman or the hostages for more than 7 hours.
