Life and Education

Cheyanne grew up in Murphy and has a brother named Austin along with two young sisters, Mixie and Mollie.
She attended Hiwassee Dam High School. After graduating in 2013, she became a student at North Carolina State University where she majored in Electrical engineering. She was most recently an undergraduate researcher at the ASSIST Center Biointerface Lab. [undefined] For six semesters, Cheyanne earned a spot on the Dean's List. [undefined]
Cheyanne has held internships in her field the past two summers.
The first was being a Control/Systems Engineering Intern for Corning Incorporated- a manufacturer of glass and ceramics - in 2015.
Next, she was an Electrical Engineering Intern at Eastman Chemical Company the following year. [undefined]
Cheyanne was set to graduate from North Carolina State University in May of 2017. She planned on attending graduate school at Duke University to earn her PhD in Biomedical engineering. [undefined]
Death
During the early morning of May 7th around 3:45 am, Cheyanne was a passenger in a vehicle driving west on SR 1379 when the driver lost control of the vehicle and overturned.
Cheyanne was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
