She was in a relationship with Tyler Ruiz and the mother of a one-year-old son. ^{[4] [0] [2]}

On Monday, February 5, 2018, officers responded to the El Rancho Apartments near Horne and Main Street at around 1:00 a.m. local time for a report of shots fired.

When crews arrived on scene, they found Tyler Ruiz and Chelsey both dead in an apparent murder suicide at the scene. Chelsey's sister, Sharice Anderson, was found suffering from a gunshot wound outside of the apartment. Chelsey's son was also in the apartment at the time but was not injured. ^{[4] [2]}
