Charlie Hallowell is an American Chef and known restaurant owner based in the East Bay who has been accused of Sexual harassment against several of his employees. ^[0]

Hallowell was born and raised in the state of Connecticut. ^[2]He attended Northfield Mt. Hermon School. ^[2]

Once he finished high school, he moved to Bay Area where he attended UC Berkeley where he received a degree in English literature. ^[2]

Once heading out to Berkeley, he worked in the kitchen for a restaurant called Chez Panisse in the late 1990s. Once working for the restaurant, he fell in love with cooking. He worked at Chez Panisse until 2005. He founded the restaurant, Pizzaiolo, which has garnered important reviews over the years. ^[2]

Charlie Hallowell has since started two other restaurants: The Boot and Shoe Service and The Boot.

On December 27th, 2017, the San Francisco Chronicle released an article with interviews from previews female workers who accuse Hallowell of sexual harassment. ^{[3] [5]}

17 former employees accused him in interviews with The Chronicle of sexual harassment and pervasive verbal abuse.

The workers, from all three of Hallowell’s restaurants, described a demoralizing work environment where his indecent propositions and abuse of his power were the norm, along with a near-constant stream of sexually explicit language.
