Charles Dion McDowell (born August t 12, 1987), better known as Wide Neck or Wide Neck Guy is an American internet personality and meme whose mugshot went viral on social media in November 2018.

On November 13, 2018, McDowell's mugshot was posted by Escambia County, Florida sheriff's department on Facebook. His mug shot almost immediately went viral online, with online users commenting and making various memes referencing his neck.

In March 2020, Wide Neck released his new rap video "First Day Out" on YouTube. As of June 2020, the video amassed over 760,000 views.^[9]

In late November 2018, McDowell started the Instagram with the username @damnwideneck which capitalizes on his meme success. He has collaborated with other Instagram personalities such as Supreme Patty and Damn Long Neck. In under a week's time, he gained over 325k followers on the platform.

As of June 2020, McDowell has over 1.1 million followers on his Instagram.^[10]

McDowell took to Instagram on March 15, 2020, to deliver the announcement. According to McDowell, not only had he enrolled in classes at the University of Florida, taking up Chemistry and Engineering, but he claimed he would also be a part of the 2020/21 Gators football team. The statement was given as he was wore Gators' merch, donning a bright orange school t-shirt and blue ball cap along with a football and some papers in hand.^[5]

McDowell had been arrested in Florida on a number of charges including fleeing police, possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine, and a number of other charges including intent to sell, manufacture or deliver.

On Tuesday, January 29, 2019, McDowell was arrested in Florida when the state revoked his bond for a prior arrest.
