Carrie Schwab-Pomerantz is an American Executive, Financial Planner, and Philanthropist for Charles Schwab & Co. She is based in San Francisco.
Early Life and Education

Carrie grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and is the daughter of Charles Schwab. She attended the University of California, Berkeley and graduated in 1982 with a degree in political science. In 1987, she earned her MBA in Marketing from The George Washington University.
Career
For the first 16 years of her career, Carrie was a Financial Consultant and a Regional Branch Manager for Charles Schwab where she served clients and led branch teams.
In 1999, she became the Vice President of Consumer Education where she designed and led outreach and thought-leadership programs for women and investors.
Carrie became President of the Charles Schwab Foundation in 2004 where she leads the philanthropy arm of Charles Schwab.
As President, she has led several effeorts to improving financial literacy including partnering with the Boys & Girls Club to create a finacial education program for teens as well as with the AARP to improve the financial outcomes of people 50 and older. In 2017, Schwab-Pomerantz was appointed Commissioner of the San Francisco Commission on the Status of Women, which fosters the advancement of women and girls through policies, legislation and programs throughout the city.

Schwab-Pomerantz is regularly featured in major media outlets, and for more than ten years, The San Francisco Business Times named her one of the Bay Area’s 100 Most Influential Women in Business, and in 2015 included her in its “Forever Influential” Honor Roll. In 2011, Schwab-Pomerantz received the William E. Odom Visionary Leadership Award, Jump$tart Coalition’s highest recognition for contributions to financial education. In 2015, she was nominated by the San Francisco Chronicle for its inaugural “Visionary of the Year” award.
Authorship
In 2002, Carrie co-authored a book with her father titled It Pays to Talk: How to Have the Essential Conversations with Your Family about Money and Investing. Her latest books explores topics about personal finance and financial literacy called The Charles Schwab Guide to Finances after Fifty and the New York Times called “overwhelmingly appealing” and “an excellent personal finance book.” Schwab-Pomerantz writes a weeklycolumn called Ask Carrie, which appears on schwab.com, Huffington Post, and is syndicated through Creators News Service.
Charity
Schwab-Pomerantz serves as director and board chair of Schwab Charitable, one of the country’s largest donor-advised funds.
She also serves on the national board of governors of Boys & Girls Clubs of America and has chaired the board of trustees for the Pacific region.
Personal Life
Carrie is married to author Gary M. Pomerantz.
They have three grown adult children and reside in the San Francisco Bay Area. [1]
