Fairfield attended Duke University as a Robertson scholar. She graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor's degree in Public Policy and a minor in Policy Journalism and English, respectively. During her college career, she wrote for Duke's newspaper The Chronicle and played club volleyball. ^[undefined]

In the summer of 2012, after graduating from Duke, Fairfield took an internship position at Bloomberg. She was an economics reporter, writing daily stories on the U.S. and global economy. She was featured in Bloomberg Businessweek and on Bloomberg Television and Radio. ^[undefined]

After her summer with Bloomberg, Caroline Fairchild became an Associate Business Editor for the Huffington Post. ^[undefined] She wrote business news stories, but she also managed all promotional content for the HuffPost Business Twitter and Facebook accounts. ^[undefined]

In November 2013, Fairchild began working with Fortune Magazine . ^{[undefined] [undefined]} There, she focused on covering women in business. She also founded The Broadsheet, a daily newsletter on the world’s most powerful women. ^[undefined] She also provided daily news coverage for the "Fortune Most Powerful Women Entrepreneurs" franchise. ^[undefined]

In March 2015, Caroline Fairfield began working for LinkedIn. She started as an Economy Editor and took part in heading the platform’s digital strategy on professional women and workplace gender issues. ^{[undefined] [undefined] [undefined]} She eventually was promoted to Managing News Editor, where she is responsible for creating more original content on the platform.

She is currently the host of their podcast, "LinkedIn's Work in Progress."
