Carolina Lizarazo (Quito, Ecuador; October 8, 1977) is an Ecuadorian film and television actress, known for having acted in several Colombian television series since 1992.[1][2]

Biography

When Lizarazo was 13, she moved to Colombia with her family because of her father's work. She is the youngest of two brothers.

She began studying Systems Engineering at university in Bogotá but had to leave it in the second semester when she became pregnant.

At 17, she found her first love, Alfonso Peña, and at the same age she became pregnant with Laura.

A couple of months after the birth of her daughter, she ended her relationship with Peña.

Career

After the birth of her child, Lizarazo decided to try her luck at acting, getting a role in the youth TV series Oki Doki,[4] sharing the cast with other promising young Colombian TV stars like Verónica Orozco, Jorge Arturo Perez and Cecilia Navia. In 1995, she was part of the cast of the long-running TV series Padres e Hijos, playing "Laura", a role she played until 1998. That same year she could be seen in the soap opera Yo amo a Paquita Gallego playing "Bettina Lucetti".

At the beginning of the new millennium, she played "Rosita" in the soap opera Alejo, la búsqueda del amor, a production that represented her first leading role. In 2001, she was part of the cast of Juan Joyita and Pedro el escamoso. [3] A year later she played "Xiomara Corrales" in Milagros de amor, sharing the cast with Maritza Rodríguez, Gregorio Pernía, Edmundo Troya and Patricia Polanco.

In 2003, Lizarazo had her first leading role in the film by Luis Alberto Restrepo La Primera Noche, a drama based on the reality of citizens displaced by violence in Colombia where she shared the role as the protagonist with John Alex Toro. A year later she appeared in RTI Television's telenovela Te voy a enseñar a querer.

In 2006 she was part of the international cast of the American soap opera Tierra de Pasiones.[3] She returned to Colombian cinema with a role in La boda del gringo (2006) and closed the 2000's appearing in Carlos Gaviria's s film Retratos en un mar de mentiras (2010), her last role to date.
