The police first got the tip when an anonymous caller informed the authorities via payphone that Carl admitted he had killed his parents.

The two smoked Marijuana when Carl disclosed the information to the unnamed man who called the cops. ^[1]

Cops arrived at the Brewer and did not see anything suspicious.

The officers from the nocturnal shift then approached the house again and they reported the smell of decaying bodies coming from inside the house.

Eventually SWAT were called in and found Brewer barricaded into an upstairs room and unwilling to talk.

Several people who knew the Brewers including their adoptive sons, specifically Carl, admitted that they would clash from time to time.

Neighbors also reported that they would often hear the family argue.

Police also have a history of visiting the Brewer home, occasions that date back since 2010.

Authorities have not stated how the parents died, yet in the affidavit for the search warrant, Mary Brewer had reported two handguns missing in the past few days, according to a search-warrant affidavit.
