Calvin Riley
Calvin Riley was a student athlete at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, California. He was a closing freshman pitcher for the college's baseball team, the Delta College Mustangs. Calvin was studying kinesiology at San Joaquin Delta College.
Calvin graduated from Junipero Serra High School in 2015, where he also played baseball.
He lived in San Mateo, California and was originally from Lowell, Massachusetts.
Notable Death
On August 7, 2016 Calvin was shot and killed while playing Pokémon Go in the touristy Fisherman's Wharf neighborhood on the San Francisco waterfront.
The shooting occurred at about 10 p.m. in Aquatic Park, said Sgt. Robert Jansing, a detective with the United States Park Police.
Aquatic Park sees over a 4 million visitors a year. The park is located across from Ghirardelli Square, a former chocolate factory, which is now a complex of shops and restaurants popular with tourists.
Investigators said that that they are unsure of the motive and the suspect.
The killing was not a robbery as nothing was taken from Calvin after the shooting.
Investigators said no witnesses are known to have seen the killer.
Investigators are collecting footage from surveillance cameras in the area, which may reveal the shooter’s identity.
Police ask that anyone who was in the park around the time of the killing to come forward and share what they saw with investigators.
