Early Life & Education
Bunny Rogers was born in Houston, Texas. She grew up in New Jersey, Texas, and Long Island, New York.
From an early age, Rogers made digital artwork specifically for the Internet.
When she was in middle school, she started forging her place online through Neopets, a virtual pets gaming website. She would draw and write in her notebooks about her virtual pets online.
In addition to her love for having an artistic vision for the online world, Rogers has had a passion for poetry since she was about 7 years old.
During her high school years, she applied to Parsons School of Design, as she wanted to study fashion design. She eventually graduated with a Bachleor's degree in Fine Arts in 2012.
Later in her life, she graduated in 2017 with a Master of Fine Arts from the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm, Sweden.
Career
Artist
As an artist, Bunny rogers has created work in the form of installations, videos, and sculptures.
They draw influence various sources, including animation (Neopets, Looney Tunes, Peter Pan , Clone High , etc.), cartoons, musicals (such as Cats and Wee Sing's 1990 production The Big Rock Candy Mountains), young adult fiction, and real-life violent events such as the Columbine High School massacre.
A lot of her work draws back to her childhood as a means to remember how she felt during her teenage years.
For example, her website, meryn.ru, represents a personal homepage she wanted to create when she was younger.
In 2014, she held a solo exhibition at Société in Berlin.
In 2015, she presented her work at Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville in Paris. She was also involved in group shows in Basement, Rome, and LUMA Westbau, Zurich.
