Early Life
Growing up in Wallingford, Brynn Gingras made a name for herself on the basketball court. Brynn Gingras developed into one of the top point guards in the state, finishing her career as the all-time scorer at that time on the girls basketball group with 1,209 points. In addition, she loved telling stories as a young girl. While attending Lyman Hall High School, she worked on the school newspaper and was a volunteer in putting together the senior yearbook. In an interview with New Haven Register, she said:
“When I was young I always told stories, I have always loved telling stories.
Being a journalist is the best way to do that.
I used to tell stories when I worked for our high school newspaper and for the yearbook.”[25]
Education
Brynn Gingras attended Yale University from 2000 to 2004, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in American studies and a concentration in Sociology. Gingras also played basketball for the Yale Bulldogs women's basketball team, starting at point guard and serving as captain her senior year. [2]
Career
She started her career in journalism as a CBS News production assistant in New York. There, she contributed to pieces on the Iraq War, Michael Jackson trial, Hurricane Katrina and the BTK arrest. Brynn's coverage over her career has earned her an Edward R. Murrow Award, a National Emmy and three Regional Emmys. [13] [2]
Brynn also reported for affiliate stations WVIT in Hartford, Connecticut and anchored for the CNN affiliate KMIZ in Columbia, Missouri. [13] [2] She covered the trials and sentencing for Cheshire, Connecticut, home invasion suspects Joshua Komisarjevsky and Steven Hayes, Hurricane Irene and the appeals of Ryan W. Ferguson.[13]
Gingras joined CNN from NBC's New York affiliate where she reported live in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Brynn captured the first pictures of the iconic boardwalk roller coaster floating in the ocean which earned her recognition from Twitter as a "2012 Top Tweet". Brynn was also on the front lines during the Newtown massacre and the Boston Marathon bombings. Her investigative reporting includes exposing the fraudulent practices of a gay former Marine turned waitress who claimed a New Jersey family didn't tip because of her sexuality. The exclusive interview with the deceived family gained international exposure.[13]
In an interview with New Haven Register, Gingras said about her current job
“At CNN, or for any television news reporter, the whole point is to tell stories in this job.
It’s what I love to do and doing it the last 15 years after I graduated from Yale has been interesting, amazing and so much fun.
It’s been an interesting journey and right now I’m doing what I love.
I love covering the courts.
I think it’s fascinating covering the courts in New York and nationally.”[25]
Personal Life

Gingras married her husband on August 29, 2019.
The couple exchanged a vow in the church at County Wicklow among their closed ones and family members. The couple is the parents of a baby boy; they welcomed their son before their marriage in 2018.[23]
