Early Life
Brunell Donald Kyei
Born and raised in the city of Chicago, she has lived in various parts of the city for most of her life. [undefined] When she was ten years old, her mother was murdered in a senseless act of violence. She kept a promise to her mother that she would finish school. She developed a passion at a young age for public service, social injustice and ethical leadership. [undefined]
In 1993, she graduated from Aurora West High School with superb grades. During this time in her life as a teenager growing up without her mother, she realized that her dream was to become a lawyer. [undefined]

After graduating from high school, she enrolled at Northern Illinois University. She became one of the top students in her class and became victorious in her work.
She was known affectionately as "Golden Dialect" in the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Zeta Nu Chapter.

After her graduating and earning her degree, she continued on her path to realize her dream to become a lawyer.
In August of 1998, she continued her education in John Marshall Law School in Chicago. She completed her course work in June 17th, 2001, and passed the Illinois State Bar Association on her first attempt on October 2001 and became a part of the Illinois State Bar Association. [undefined]
Career
Attorney
On March 11, 2002, Brunell worked as an Assistant State’s Attorney for the State of Illinois.
She remained employed at the State’s Attorney Office until January of 2003.
On February 10, 2003, she joined the Law Office of the Cook County Public Defender until January 2, 2009.
Afterwards, she started her private practice as a criminal defense attorney.
Politics
She was a Democrat Lieutenant Governor candidate in Illinois for some time.
She was a supporter of Barak Obama until she felt that he was no longer true to his word about creating change. [undefined]
For the 2016 elections, she was initially a Bernie Sanders. After he lost, she began to support Donald Trump. She is now the Vice-Chair of Diversity Outreach for the National Diversity Coalition for Trump. [undefined]
Travail of an Innocent Child (Book)
On February 27, 2017, Donald-Kyei published her autobiography Travail of an Innocent Child. The book reveals the story of how, at age 10, she watched her mother get stabbed to death in their home. It also describes how she overcame her childhood struggles by being homeless and abused by eventually attending law school and becoming an attorney. [undefined]
Personal Life
She is married to Rashid Kyei and they bother have 3 children together.
She's a supporter of the Donald Trump presidential campaign and has done numerous interviews during his election run where she became a proponent of defending his views. Trump even went so far as to retweet a May 6, 2017 post of hers that bragged about focusing on jobs going overseas, failing schools, and open borders instead of her skin color.
