On Wednesday March 21, 2018, Lofton was arrested after a video began to go viral on Facebook apparently showing her baby smoking marijuana. ^[1]

She was charged with two counts of felony child abuse, plus contributing to delinquency and possession of marijuana. ^[1]

Brianna Ashanti Lofton was transported to the Wake County Detention Center. The baby has been placed with Wake County Child Protective Services. ^[1]
