He started his profession as a culinary expert at a few marquee cafés in Los Angeles, California, which include Michel Richard Citronelle. Growing up in Oregon helped him develop the tricks of the trade and expand to where he is today with 10 cafés across Southern California. This includes grant winning Herb and Wood in San Diego, which was named one of the nation's "Greatest Restaurant Openings" by Zagat, one of America's "10 Best Restaurants" by USA Today and "Eatery of the Year" by Eater San Diego.
