Breunna Ward is a resident of Chicago, Illinois. She goes by "Breunna Love Devontemajor" on her personal Facebook account. She has also been known to use the alias, "Brittany T. McGowan"

On February 14, 2017, Breunna was wounded when a gunman opened fire as she and her boyfriend Lazarec Collins [23], a documented gang member drove down an alley in the Lawndale neighborhood of Chicago. ^[1] Lazarec's 2-year-old nephew, Lavontay White Jr, who was riding in the back seat of the vehicle, was fatally wounded in the shooting along with her boyfriend. ^[1]

Breunna was streaming on Facebook Live at the time of the shooting, and the video went viral on social media. ^[1] While she and the passengers of the vehicle were under fire, Breunna ran a short distance to a home to seek help from family members of the victims. She was reluctant to contact law enforcement due to existing criminal warrants in Will and Cook, IL counties. [29] She was taken to the Mount Sinai Hospital to be treated for a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Breunna was pregnant at the time of the shooting. She is listed in fair condition at this time. Police say that Breunna's unborn baby is fine after conflicting reports had been issued that the baby had been lost.

A warrant review hearing is scheduled for February 24, 2017.

Devon L. Swan has been charged in the triple shooting that had taken the lives of Lavontay White Jr. and Lazarec Collins. He is currently being held by the Cook County Department of Corrections without bond.
