Breaion King
Breaion King
Breaion King is a second grade elementary school teacher in Austin, Texas.
King is working toward her Master's degree at Texas State University.
Violent Arrest
During a traffic stop in June 2015, an Austin Police Department officer asks her to get back in her car and then asks her to 0ut her feet in so he can close the door.
When she refuses he asks her to stand up.
She resists and he forcibly removes her, throwing her to the ground.
Video from the traffic stop, which came from the dash-cam of the officers patrol vehicle publicly shows Breaion, refusing to step out of her car and then being forcibly removed.
She then says she will get out on her own.
It's difficult to see whether she swings at the officer.
A video of an incident was obtained by the American-Statesman and KVUE-TV this week.
[0] [1] [8]The video shows the traffic stop escalating rapidly in the seven seconds from when officer Bryan Richter, who is white, first gives a command to 26-year-old Breaion King to close her car door to when he forcibly removes her from the driver’s seat, pulls her across a vacant parking space and hurls her to the asphalt.
Richter wrote in his report of the incident that he acted quickly because King demonstrated an “uncooperative attitude” and was “reaching for the front passenger side of the vehicle.”
[8]He didn’t know whether she had a weapon, he wrote.
He said King resisted by pulling away from him and wrapping her hands and arms around the steering wheel.
Police charged King with resisting arrest, but the Travis County attorney dismissed the case after reviewing the police dashcam video.
