Branden Miller is the genius behind the internet phenomena Joanne The Scammer. ^[undefined] His character rose to prominence in 2016 when he uploaded an improvised clip under the persona on his twitter account. ^[undefined] Branden has created several other characters which he has been impersonating on his youtube for many years, such as Miss Prada. Branden resides with his partner in Daytona, FL. ^[1] He has described himself as very shy and a homebody--completely the opposite of his characters. ^[1]

Branden grew up in Hopewell, Virginia. ^[1] He was adopted as a baby by an older white couple: Buddy, who died of cancer when Branden was 12, and Veronica, a stay-at-home mom. Branden didn’t learn he was adopted until age 17, when a family friend broke the news. He doesn’t know much about his biological parents, except that they were black and Puerto Rican. ^[1]

Branden lives in a one-bedroom in a quiet gated complex 15 minutes from the Daytona shoreline.
