Jonathan Porter (born January 20, 1997), known professionally as Blueface, is an American rapper from Los Angeles, California. In October 2018, after releasing his song "Respect My Crypn", Blueface became a viral internet meme due to his off-beat style of rapping and high-pitched voice. In November 2018, he signed to the West Coast branch of Birdman's Cash Money Records label.
Biography
Early Life
Blueface is originally from Los Angeles and grew up on Carmona and Washington in Picfair Village, Los Angeles. He moved around a lot and lived in the San Fernando Valley and Oakland, California during his childhood. Although he was associated with the crips, Blueface played football for 10 years from Pop Warner through college which he credits for helping him stay out of trouble. He briefly attended Fayetteville State University in North Carolina to play football but left after having a disagreement with the coaching staff as well as feeling homesick.

Blueface started rapping after his friend and artist TeeCee4800 encouraged him to record while they were in the studio.
He liked the way he sounded and continued to pursue the craft.
Blueface credits the track "Deadlocs" as his first major hit and performed the song in high schools around the country, giving him national exposure.
He subsequently released "Thotiana", "Next Big Thing", and "Respect My Crypn" which all received millions of streams.
Personal Life
The name "Blueface" predates his rap career and was a nickname people that he knew called him.
He has a number of tattoos, the most prominent of which is one of Benjamin Franklin on the right side of his face. Blueface stated that the Benjamin Franklin tattoo is a symbol of how committed he is to rapping.
