Blockchain Education Alliance
Blockchain Education Alliance is a crypto-related initiative aimed at creating a workforce ready to take jobs in the blockchain economy. BEA was launched in October 2019 by MouseBelt..
Overview
In October 2019, MouseBelt launched Blockchain Education Alliance. The alliance's first members included Stellar Development Foundation, TRON, Hedera, Icon, Ontology, Wanchain, Harmony (ONE), Nervos, Orbs, LTO Network, Emurgo, NEM, Ethereum Classic Labs.[2][3]
Under MouseBelt's leadership, the Blockchain Education Alliance started to cultivate a network of 20 leaders in both industry and academia to jointly develop educational initiatives to accelerate mass adoption of blockchain technology. They organized meet-ups, face-to-face meetings, hackathons, and more to support collaboration. Members could also engage with researchers to develop new use cases that addressed specific challenges within their industry.[2][3]
The Blockchain Education Alliance comprises a network of over 67 student blockchain organizations in 14 countries.
The University program has also established partnerships with some of the world’s leading engineering departments, including the University of California, Los Angeles, University of California, Santa Barbara, and University of California, Davis, through their UC Blockchain Initiative.[4]
In February 2020, Ripple' s Xpring, MasterCard, Binance X, and NEO joined Blockchain Education Alliance.[4]
In August 2020, ING Bank, Anheuser-Busch InBev, Rolls-Royce, and Multi.io joined the Blockchain Education Alliance. The addition of these firms makes 26 current members in the organization.[5]
In November 2020, SIMBA Chain Joins MouseBelt's Blockchain Education Alliance to Shape the Future of Blockchain Education.
Born out of academia, SIMBA Chain's co-founders are accomplished professors at the University of Notre Dame who have created technology to democratize and foster the adoption of blockchain. Partnering with universities and student-led blockchain clubs to inspire a new generation is a priority with SIMBA Chain, who launched a dedicated education practice earlier this year.[7]
SIMBA Chain Chief Executive Officer Joel Neidig said, "The new relationship with MouseBelt BEA perfectly complements SIMBA Chain's objectives to provide any student the opportunity to learn about blockchain and how it can benefit business, government, and society. We see first-hand that MouseBelt BEA is becoming the recognized leader supporting blockchain academics, and we are honored to have our technology and team included in this movement."[6]
