On Tuesday March 20, 2018, Austin Wyatt Rollins allegedly shot a female student and a male shortly before 8:00 a.m. local time.

He shot a female, Jaelynn Willey, in the hallway of the school and a bullet hit the male student.

Rollins exchanged gunfire with Officer Gaskill, who was not injured.

Rollins was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

Willey was left in critical condition and the boy in stable condition.

Authorities stated there is an indication that a prior relationship existed between Rollins and the female victim.

Officer Gaskill has been praised for stopping harm to other students.
