Early Life and Education
Benjamin Heath was born and raised in Indiana. When he was in high school, Heath and his friends would take pictures with their 35 mm Olympus Stylus of camping, parties, etc. and developed their films in a photo lab. Heath admits that he was not a good photographer at all but still found enjoyment in the activity. He went on to study at the University Of Indiana and graduated with a degree in Education.
Post-Graduate Careers
Benjamin Heath is a photographer based in Los Angeles, California
Upon entering post-graduate life, Heath became a special education teacher in Indiana but was living day to day on the meager salary of $19,000 a year. Concerned, his parents suggested that he should look into law school which was something Heath was very adept for. He got a decent LSAT score and respectable grades at a respectable law school, Heath went on to work for a law firm based in San Francisco. Working as a commercial litigator, Heath describes his job as "being an asshole every day" and did not find fulfillment in his work which made him miserable.
While living in San Francisco, a new app appeared called Instagram that became an outlet for Heath's creativity. Posting on Instagram became part of Heath's daily routine. His work became noticed by future clients who would tap him to do work for them. After paying off his law school debt and landing bigger gigs, in mid-2013 Heath quit his job as a lawyer to become a photographer full-time.
