Ben Thompson is a Business Presenter and Correspondent for BBC News.
Education
Ben Thompson attended Cardiff University in 2003 and attained a degree in International business and French. During his time there he spent a year at Brest Business School in France. Thompson later earned his post-graduate degree in Broadcast Journalism from the same university in 2004.
Career
While at university, Thompson produced the morning radio news program, Good Morning Wales.
He Vacated to London to start work in the Business & Economics Unit of BBC News. There, he was the business producer for the rolling news service BBC News 24 and the BBC’s international news channel, BBC World News.
In 2008, Ben moved in front of the camera to become the BBC’s Middle East Business Correspondent.
That is in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, Ben spent three years traveling the length and breadth of the region including Egypt, Algeria, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. Particularly challenging stories included covering the Dubai Financial Crisis, reporting from Egypt and Tunisia during the ‘Arab Spring’ uprisings, and the growing tensions in Syria.
Ben returned to the UK to become a Business Presenter for the BBC News Channel and provided insight on the Financial crisis of 2007–08 and debt crisis engulfing the globe. Ben later become BBC's New York Correspondent and covered the American election and finance news. His biggest story during his time in New York was the landfall of Hurricane Sandy, which he provided continuous coverage for BBC's audience.
Currently, Ben is the co-host of Business Live and presents news on the BBC Breakfast program. He broadcasts worldwide on BBC News Channel and BBC World News.
In May 2020, Thompson presented the opening keynote at Business Vision Live 2020.
Running for 14 years, Business Vision Live is the largest gathering of business professionals in the southeast.[8]

Ben is a gay man.
In his spare time, Ben indulges in traveling, photography, music, and theater.
