In a video that went viral on September 10th, 2016, thanks to an empathetic Tim McGraw who shared the video on his Facebook, about 400 students from Christ Presbyterian Church Academy gathered outside the window of Ellis' to sing "Holy Spirit" song. Ben has lost his hair, requires a cannula for supplemental oxygen and is using a medical walker for assistance in mobility.
The gathering happened on September 7th, 2016.
Students and staff, some of them riding the school bus, all united to return the love they had always received from Ellis.
According to his CaringBridge, the cancer has become more aggressive and treatments are being stopped. Ben’s time is limited and hospice has been called in to keep the teacher comfortable. His family are all deciding which steps are the best to take. [1]
