Baton Rouge Flood 2016

Baton Rouge Flood 2016

On Friday August 12, 2016 Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards declared a statewide state of emergency in response to heavy ongoing rains.

In just a 12 hour window, the equivalent of roughly three months’ worth of rainfall during a typical hurricane season poured down in Kentwood, Louisiana.

As of August 14, 3 people have been declared dead, more than 7,000 have been rescued, 5,000 more are in shelters, and drivers in Lousiana are still stranded on interstate.

This is one of many catastrophic natural events occurring in tandem with the ever-increasing rise in global warming.
