Bantu was a 24-year-old gorilla who was a major attraction at Mexico City's Chapultepec Zoo. [undefined]
In July 2016, Bantu suffered a cardio-respiratory arrest and passed away.
He was being sedated so he could be transported to another zoo for mating purposes with two females.
The mating facility was in in Guadalajara, 340 miles away. [undefined]
Bantu was expected to live for 40 years.
His death reminded many of the Death of Harambe the gorilla at the Cincinnati Zoo. [undefined]
