ATL Smook
Caleb Earl Alston, popularly known as ATL Smook (formerly Carolina Smook), is a North Carolina rapper by way of Atlanta. He is known for his unique use of AutoTune, innovative flows, and ear for beats.[1]
Career
Initially, Smook got into the rap game as a producer, making some of Lil B’s biggest hits such as “Erybody Kno”.
Since 2016 Smook’s music has been relentlessly consistent; interestingly some other artists have found emulated his style of music.
His song “Early,” Thrillboy, an Australian Producer threw him the exact sort of beat that he thrives on: sentimental melodies, downtempo percussion, eschewing a kick drum for extra heavy 808s. It is a space that Smook and Atlanta collaborator 10kDunkin thrive in like almost no one else.[2]
Atl Smook contributed to DP Beats dropped DPONTHEBEAT VOL. 4 which was released at the tail-end of 2019, a tape laden with features from Keef. It also enlisted contributions from Wiz Khalifa, Ballout, Slimesito, Yung Ban, 95Reddo, Tony Shhnow and Skip Gocar.[3]
Smook has connections to many of autotune rap’s biggest names.
For instance, he frequently works with Chief Keef producers DP and BassKids. He has also worked with the elusive Lusi, who is known for his work with Bladee and Yung Lean.
