Ar'mon and Trey

Ar'mon and Trey

Ar'mon and Trey are a pop-Rhythm and blues duo who built their career through covers of Contemporary hits uploaded to social media accounts. After becoming popular through Vine and subsequently Instagram and YouTube, the native Detroiters eventually recorded material of their own.[1]

Early Life

Ar'mon and Trey were born as Armon Warren ( born May 18, 1997)[3] and Trey Traylor (born November 25, 1998) in Detroit, Michigan. They have four other siblings and all of them were raised by their mother, Shiquita Hathaway. Ar'mon and Trey performed together and run a highly-popular YouTube channel dedicated to their music. They grew up with a deep love for music and show business and began their journey to internet stardom on Vine and soon gathered a large following on the platform with their six-second-long covers of famous songs. After Vine shut down, the brothers followed the route that many other Viners took; they set up a YouTube account. Fortunately for them, the majority of their audience made the transition along with them and soon Trey and Armon were accumulating new viewers on the video sharing platform. While they have mostly done covers for a major part of their careers, the brothers have started making original music recently.[4][2]

Career

Trey and Armon began performing at an early age.

Gifted with a great voice and an intuitive ear for music, the brothers found music to be something they could bond over and in time and started performing together. When they set up their Vine account in the early 2010s, it was simply a way for them to strengthen that bond. It came as a pleasant surprise to both of them when their account rapidly became popular.

They decided to open a YouTube channel building on the fanbase they gathered on Vine. They created the "Ar'mon and Trey" channel on December 28, 2014 and uploaded their first video titled "Ar'mon and Trey" on August 26, 2016. They decided to focus on YouTube after Vine shut down, and fortunately for them, most of their fans made the transition with them to YouTube. These days, each of their videos on Youtube received over 1 million views. [4][2]

After years of covering songs by artistes, such as Chrish, Usher, and Drake, Trey and his brother have started creating their original music. They started by releasing singles such as "She for Everybody," "Drown," "Breakdown," "Bags Right," and "No Strings" in 2017 and early 2018. Some of these tracks were released officially through major-label Warner Bros. with Ne-yo and Eric Bellinger among the co-songwriters. Between releases, Warren and Taylor engaged their following with uploaded clips of humorous pranks. They issued their debut EP, Long Story Short, in mid-2018, and returned with the single "Just in Case" (featuring Yung Bleu) the following spring.[1]

Personal Life

They both love playing a lot but Trey seems to be more serious between the two[2].

Armon loved basketball and played a bit with his elder brother Dwight.[3]

Social Media

As of early 2020, their YouTube channel has garnered over 3.45 million subscribers and also has about 420 million views. The brothers have 2.2 million followers on Instagram, 978.6k followers on Facebook and 465.4k followers on Twitter.[5][6][7][8]
