On Saturday February 24, 2018, Lake County Sheriff's Office deputies responded at about 8:30 a.m. to a home on Maple Street near South Ridge Road after a man stated he shot and killed his sister. ^{[undefined] [1]}

Deputies went to the home and tried to talk to the man, but no one responded.

They went into the home and found three people dead from gunshot wounds. ^{[undefined] [1]}

Officials identified them as Ralph Moore Jr., Vickie Thornhill and her daughter Arianna Cope.

Investigators stated it seems Thornhill and Cope were moving out of the home and Moore was distraught over them leaving him.
