Arawato

Arawato

Arawato is a Venezuelan band made up of members of Los Mesoneros (Venezuelan Band), Viniloversus (Venezuelan Rock Band) and Tumbador who decided to unite and create a musical supergroup.

Beginnings

Arawato was founded five years ago, when its members were in Caracas where they met to compose and have fun. The dynamic continued like this for years.

Arawato is not the main project of its members, so they look for small spaces that allow them to meet to create new material, considering that they do not live in the same city, sometimes the meetings are in Miami or Mexico.

They claim that they are always looking for a way to get together to generate productive days of composition, recording and post-production.

From these sessions of 4 or 5 days at least 2 or 3 songs come out, all from the brainstorming that each one contributes.

Currently, due to the pandemic by Coronavirus (COVID-19), several projects have been paralyzed, including each other's projects for the current year.

Members

Its members are Rodrigo Gonsalves from Viniloversus, Luis Jiménez from Los Mesoneros and Carlos Imperatori from Tumbador and Dioslepague [1].

Arawato is a manifesto free of ties and conventions.

This Venezuelan supergroup takes its protagonists out of their comfort zone by putting Rodrigo on bass, Luis on keyboard and Imperatori is in charge of the drums.

First song: "La Apertura"

Its premiere is the song titled “La Apertura” (The opening), a visceral theme and somewhat removed from the music of its bands, with vintage touches and stoner alike, this is the prelude to the release of an EP.

Arawato has become one of the most important bands in Venezuelan rock.

Latest: "Suplentes"

This fusion of musicians has brought about a balance in their proposal as one of the best of various worlds.

They also bring a touch of sensuality and maintain these aspects in all of his compositions as seen in “Suplentes” (Substitutes), the newest theme with which Arawato started the second stage of the musical experiment [3].

With the same tranquility with which they created Arawato, Luis Jiménez, Rodrigo Gonsalves and Carlos Imperatori premiered the song accompanied by a video created by the visual artist Joaquín Salim.

In this regard, Gonsalves (who was on the guitar in the project) points out that most of the song was done prior to the Latin Grammy, although the post-production and mixing details culminated in recent months.

As in all Arawato's themes, "Suplentes" has been carefully and meticulously developed with time and patience.

All this makes him feel like a kind of curator in the process, leaving the themes to age and then see an interesting result.

On the other hand, his songs and the mystique of the project have also been accompanied from the beginning by a peculiar aesthetic sense from his logo, photographs and video clips.

In "Suplentes" (Substitutes), Arawato decided to contact a visual artist, at first only to design the cover of the theme.

However, this turned it into a video and Gonsalves expresses satisfaction with the result obtained, saying how nice it is to meet artists from other disciplines who understand and manage to give life to an aesthetic that is born from something sonorous: “Salim managed to combine daring, the elegance and project's sensuality ”.

Arawato, has no greater claims for the future, its members are focused on giving it promotion without being clear on whether it could be part of a next EP.

Musical trajectory

Likewise, it is important to note that in December 2019 Viniloversus and Los Mesoneros were in various Venezuelan stages as part of the poster for the first edition of the Cusica Fest.

However, Arawato has not had its first live performance, which is due to the treatment given by its creators to each new movement that arises despite the fact that their fans eagerly wish it, they must continue waiting.

Arawato says that when the time comes he wants it to be unforgettable “to do something premium at its core, not to be pressured to meet the expectations of the music industry.”

Nominations

Arawato is (despite its many fans) a musical project that is not guided by the conventional.

In their 5 years of existence they have 5 songs that form their first self-titled EP, which led them in 2019 to be nominated for the Latin Grammy for Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song.

Finally, "Suplentes" (Substitutes) is available on all digital platforms to be heard at any time.
