Anne Branigin

Anne Bran is an American Journalist, former Annenberg Fellow, and current news fellow who writes for The Root, O Globo, and Quartz, among others.

Biography

Anne was born in the state of Virginia and briefly grew up in the city of Reston. She, alongside with her family, would go on to live in other countries. She also grew up in Mexico and the Philippines.

Education

After finishing her high school, she attended University of North Carolina Wilmington where she received/obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Creative writing and graduated in 2003.

She was a part of the Student Government Association and VP of MultiCultural Affairs.

In December of 2012, she was a NAACP Recipient of the Rachel Freeman Service Award, Senior Medallion Recipient, Best Non-Fiction Thesis for the Creative Writing BFA.

Anne Branigin got her TESOL certificate from LanguageCorps in 2007.

After traveling to teach English in several countries around the world, she returned to the United States where she attended University of Southern California and received her Master of Arts in Journalism in 2016. She is recognized by faculty as an "Outstanding MS Journalism Student" for Class of 2016

During her time in Los Angeles she was the weekly radio host for "From Where We Are" on the Annenberg Radio News.

She was also a teaching assistant during time at USC.

Career

After graduating from University of North Carolina Wilmington and getting her TESOL certificate, she traveled to several countries including Colombia and Vietnam to teach the English language.

After being the program coordinator for an organization called Global Summit of Women, she went on to work for University of North Carolina Wilmington as an executive assistant for two years.

After returning from her trip, she worked as a Teaching assistant for Sports, Business and Marketing classes at USC while she completed her Master of Art in Journalism.

Journalism/News

Anne is currently the news fellow for Gizmodo Media Group where she writes for all of their particular publications. The often writes for The Root, O Globo, Quartz, and The Observer. She also writes and reports for Fusion TV.
