Anna Kraft
Anna Kraft is a German TV presenter and former Track and field athlete who now presents ZDF-Sportreportage, a show that covers major sport events for the ZDF, a German public television broadcaster **.
Education
Anna Kraft grew up in Leverkusen and attended the Landrat-Lucas-Gymnasium in Opladen, a school that supports students that have shown to be athletic talents [1], from which she also graduated in 2005.
From 2005 until 2010 she studied sports science with a focus on media and communication at the German Sport University Cologne, the largest sports university in Europe. During her studies she worked as a Freelance journalist for various German media broadcasting companies such as RTL, Antenne Bayern and WDR.
Career
Between 2000 and 2008, supported by her club TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Anna Kraft was a successful track and fields athlete and even became German sprint champion several times. Due to several injuries, however, she turned away from her professional sports career and started to pursue a career in sports journalism during her studies.
In 2010 she started working for the soccer show Sat.1, where she was responsible for the creation of various TV-reports, including reports of the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League. From 2011 until 2013 she worked as a news anchor for Sky Sports News HD. From 2013 until 2015 she presented Bundesliga aktuell at Sport1 (Germany), the only German TV show with daily reports on the Bundesliga , the German soccer league. Since summer 2015 she has been working for ZDF, presenting ZDF Sportreportage, in which she gets to present major sports events and games of the UEFA Champions League and the Bundesliga.
During the UEFA European Championship in 2016 she got to present several games directly from the stadium in France for ZDF.
She also presented the drawing of the UEFA European Under-19 Championship that took place in the aftermath of the European Championship in France. For Bunte, a German weekly magazine, she also wrote a weekly column, reporting from the European Championship in France in 2016.
Personal Life
Her father, Hans-Jürgen, played for Fortuna Düsseldorf, when he was young. Anna Kraft lives in Munich and is in a relationship with soccer commentator Wolff-Christoph Fuss. She works out three to four times per week and even kept a blog, Fräulein Turnschuh, which translates to Miss athletic shoe, for a while.
In an interview in 2016 she stated that as a sports journalist, she pays attention to asking precise questions as there is never a lot of time after games.
According to her, as a journalist it is also beneficial to be spontaneous, be able to listen and to be able to quickly react to the person you're talking to.
She also said that it has become a lot easier for women to work in sports journalism, especially since nowadays there are more female commentators, representers and reporters than ever.
